In 2013 Irkutsk State Technical University was in TOP-20 Russian universities by the demand for its graduates among employers.

 Irkutsk National Research State Technical University was the only higher educational institution in the Irkutsk region chosen for “Expert RA” ranking survey.  INRSTU upgraded its level and ranks 54th in the overall ranking list while in 2012 it ranked 57th. ISTU confirmed its leadership by the demand for its graduates ranking 18th in this area.

By the results of 2012/2013 academic year,  INRSTU ranks 23rd in the national ranking of Russian classical and research universities made up by the information agency “Interfax” and radio station “Echo Moskvy”. Irkutsk Technical University was awarded 56 points of 100 possible. Last year the University ranked 24th. In the block “Innovations and entrepreneurship” ISTU ranked 13th with 82 points of 100; in the block “Research” our University ranked 19th.

By the results of the National ranking of Russian universities in 2010 Irkutsk State Technical University was in the TOP-20. In June 2010 ISTU was reckoned to “Association of leading universities of Russia”. In April 2010 the University won the All-Russian competition and was awarded the category “National Research University”.

At the fifth mining forum “Minex-2009” ISTU became the winner in the nomination “Mining HEI of the year” for the high quality of training of specialists for the Russian mining industry.

By the results of survey “Ranking of universities which are participants and winners of competitions of innovative educational programs in 2006 and 2007 by the level of ICT development” carried out by rating agency “ReitOR” in 2008, ISTU ranks 2nd in the field “ICT-infrastructure” (journal “Career”, June 2008).

Based on a survey of 1100 leading enterprises of Russia ISTU has become a member of “Alpha league” composed of leading 16 Russian universities (the survey was made by All-Russian Center of Public Opinion Research by the order of Public organization “Business Russia” in May-June 2007).
